I may be doing a Wild Boar in the near future......I have a few questions.
The McKenzie catalog requires three measurements...eye to nose, length of head and neck at head. The first and third one are no-brainers.
Questions.......
1. where do you measure for the length of head....nose to base of skull?
2. I see that the forms come with either a foam or repro nose. Don't you use the original nose?
3. Since it will be my first Boar, are their any tips or techniques that will be needed that a deer mount doesn't require?
I plan on using a form with an installed jawset for my first attempt.
Thanks

All you need is the eye to nose.Check out Waso forms before you start.
Before you buy forms check out the others. Noonkester WASCO etc.
Those McKenzie forms look like a Van Dyke orginal lol. Eye to nose measurement and neck close to the skull, is all you need. The jawset is no problem to install it may take 5 mins if you have to hunt down your bondo.
Repro nose in my opinion is alot easier to deal with. Another good idea is the rick carter boar tape plenty of info.
Great info guys......
It looks like I'll be buying another video!
....a nick carter tape
I like the McKenzie RB series. Stay away from the other one. I like using the real nose because the repos always look fake to me and don't have the small hairs like the real thing. The jawset is easy and make sure you have some jaw juice on hand. I change out the cutters and put the real ones in. Good luck and get some reference pics.
