I have killed a 4 foot rattlesnake 3-4 days ago. I have cut off the head and have the snake in a bucket. Am I too late to skin this snake, or is there something I should do now. I have ordered the snakeskin tanning kit from Rittles and am waiting for it to arrive.

If you were going to mount it, i would say definetally yes. Since you are going to tan it, and remove the scales anyway you MAY be ok! It all depends on the temp where you are and wether it has started to rot yet. Pick it up, smell it, and see! Try pulling the skin off, and see if it tears easily, if so, toss it out. next time freeze it immedietally, then decide what you want to do
