Staining

I just did a set not too long ago. I wiped down my antlers real well with lacquer thinner, then stained them prior to mounting the cape. Hope that helps and good luck!

thanks sandy

Why Stain them?

Painting them looks more real than stain. Stain soaks into the antler material and you will not be able to rub them to highlight the tips and textures. I use a few colors of brown, and black and paint them and then a light rubbing with a scrub pad or steel wool and they look like the real set.
