I need to restore my elk mount. New Mexican Elk fur is all over thick but dull. I want to treat the fur, but correctly. Can you advise me? anadinewink@yahoo.com

Elk dont have fur, they have hair.

Mount Sheen is a spray on product that will give you elk hair sheen. It smells nice and will put a nice gloss to the hair, but it is an oil base and will eventually attract the same dirt and grime that keeps the hair from being shiny now. When I get an OLD mount like this, I set it in the driveway on it's base and hose it down. Then I lather it up, being very careful not to bend the hair backwards, and then rinse it off. Then I put a good hair conditioner on it and repeat the step. With shop air, I force most of the water out and then I blowdry it. The conditioner gives it a soft luster you want without the oil and the mount will be clean all the way to the mannikin. Just pick a sunny day and start early. LOL
