How do I bleach yellowed Dall Sheep hair on a mount w/o wrecking the mount?

You can buy the 30 wt peroxide at your beauty supply and then buy a cannister of Basic White (magnesium carbonate). For "on the mount", I'd use the liquid instead of the gel. Take about a quart of the peroxide in a plastic bowl. Add 5 to 6 scoops of Basic White. If you have a hand blender it would be great, but a regular hand mixer from the kitchen will work. With an apron, face shield and gloves, set the beaters at the edge of the mix and turn it on to full speed. Allow the Basic White to mix and then continue to mix until you have a frothy, meringue looking, mix. Carefully dip the foam out and spread it evenly over your sheep. Try not to soak the hide, just coat the outside, visible hair. Let it set for 2 or 3 hours and then brush it out of the hair gently. OR, do like I do, and hose the sucker down in the driveway. Mix the 40 wt peroxide gel with about 10 scoops of Basic white and lather the sucker up. After about 20 minutes, hose it off, blow it dry with shop air and then let it set in the sun until dry.
