I just finished my first rainbow & it came out pretty good. But most trout at least stocked in my area have a very noticeable purple stripe but none of my paint scheduels or videos use purple ,just shades of red.Anyway I was wanting to know to obtain this do I simply add a tint of purple over the red if so which purple is recomended ?any sugestions or comments would be apreaceiated!

You need a color chart Thomas...

And learn how to mix colors. To answer your question, equal amounts of blue and red make violet pruple. So depending on what shade you're looking for, I'd thin blue paint a lot and go easy and hit the pink until it looks right...

A very light spray of violet over the light red stripe is great, but then go over this with a medium spray of blue glimmer. (Try on paper first to get the hang of this) This really gives the Rainbow's stripe a great realistic purple- iridescence that are seen on some of the heathier stocked trout and always on the wild Rainbows. Only spray the stripe, watch the overspray.

alizarin crimson makes a pretty good color for the rainbow stripe, Cadmium scarlet for the cheeks. ( obtainable in oil colors that can be diluted in a mixture of about five parts of lacquer thinner to one part of clear lacquer... )
