Do I need to de-grease a bear skull after the dermicid beetles are done with it? I want to bleach the skull for display. Thanks alot for any help!

You always need to degrease - even when macerating which biologically breaks done some fo the oils etc you should still degrease.

Always always always degrease - no matter how much you think you don't need it. The brain has a high fat content and there are oils in the skull that you may not even notice until months later when it bleeds out into your piece.

If you think there is no need to degrease whatsoever, degrease it for at least a week anyway.

Hope that helps =)

Thanks Raven!

Raven, thank you very much for the advice. I really appreciate it. Is there a de-greaser you recommend?

Rittels Super Solvent

2 oz per gallon of water - the stuff works incredibly well.

Thanks Again
