Fox tail

My grandson & I found a Red Fox that was hit by a car and killed. We cut the tail off. How do you perserve the tail? I pulled about 2" of the skin from the bone and that was as far as I could get. Help.

Pliars

Take a pliars and grip the bone part that is free from the skin then pulling on the bone pull the bone out of the skin... now youll have a tube with no bone in it.... split it down the middle and then tan it... or you should be able to get away with just salting it heavily and leaving it like that depending on what your doing with it... hope this helped some...
