My father-in-law is moving to Collville, WA. and is wanting my family to move to the same area. I told him I need to get alot of input on the area before I even concider such a move. I now live in southern Oregon. Can anyone tell me what the area is like and what the taxidermy business in the area is like? I have been apprenticing for about three years now and would love to do the same up there ( if we move ) or do small part time or what ever. Just wanted some input on the area.
thanks to all

Theres already some snow in the foothills. Lots of game around here too.Anything else about this area you would like to know? I've lived here my whole life(29yrs.)

what is the hunting and fishing like around there? Are the elk numbers and deer numbers good. They are dropping here. Also what are the jobs like around there? If I do Taxidermy part time would it be difficult to find a job? when my father-in-law settles in we are going up there this spring to check it out and look around, he really likes it up there.
Thank you
Bill
The elk and deer numbers are very good. There is an overabundance of whitetails in the area elk are doing pretty well, and the muley population is actually holding. There are also some pretty good populations of black bears, and an incredible overabundance of turkeys. As for employment-what do you do? There is quite a bit in the timber industry in that area.
Well I have worked in a couple Mills around here also have CDL, right now I am a warehouse foreman. I do shipping , recieving & purchasing with some computer and customer service. If at all possible I would love to find a taxidermist that was looking to retire and I could take over, but that is only a dream.
