I have never mounted an elk before and just took in two. Can elk capes be dry preseved? If any one could give me a few pointers it would be greatly appreciated!

I have used dp on elk before BUT I would not recommend it. It takes a LONG time to dry and during that drying you canNOT touch the mane or you WILL lose some of it. NO grooming after the initial mounting. And did I mention, it takes a LONG time to dry, I'm talking weeks, about 6-8 of them? The hide and hair are just too thick on them. It will work, but there are much better ways. I used to use dp when I was learning, but I only tan now. BP
