Using floor adhesive for hide paste

Submitted by Jay on 11/15/04 at 7:28 PM. ( ) 63.125.71.164

I read the archives about using Henerys floor adhesive for hide paste, but I live in a small town and can't find it. McCoys has Weldwood multipurpose tile and floor adhesive, and was wondering if I could use it for hide paste. I wet tan with EZ tan and proplus oil.

I like Buckeye S., but it's to exspensive, don't like epoxy's, I like Tecnaglu, but it's also to high, so what does anyone think? I didn't order any with my last order of forms, and need to mount this week.

Thanks for any help.

Open a can of Weldwood floor adhesive and compare it's color, texture, and smell with Buckeye Supreme. It works just fine.

on the subject of BE supreme

I can gaurantee you that those products are not the same as BE supreme, regardless of the looks and smell. Trust me, I know the origin of it. My initial guess is that the better floor adhesives are a bit pricey too, arent they?

The choice of adhesives is a tough one. To some, (like me) price shopping glue is not even an option, as the whole basis of your mount depends on the glue. Yet others use caulking for deer, claiming good results! Go figure!

Your best bet, well, I KNOW your BEST bet. But your best bet if shopping would be to buy the smaller can of adhesive and try it and see. Heck, you might stumble onto the next big adhesive that eliminates all drumming forever! Good luck with your sticking.

Let's cut corners and ask where the problem is.

Funny, people are always trying to cut corners, then when they have problems here that are asking for help.

When one of the regulars says use this is not because they are cutting corners.

It's because something works and they know how to work with it.

This works for me.

So If i use Elmers glue for the earliners why did it drum?

Go ahead cut corners but dont ask for help repairing your screwup.

Its not always trying to cut corners

My view is that a lot of Taxidermy suppliers use common stuff and just put on a sticker with some fancy name to now call it a "Taxidermy" product. This all just to push up the price and because most of us isn't chemical experts won't know the difference.

Then again because somethings looks/smell/feel the same, we often think it is, try it out without success.
This is what makes this forum so grate so that we can share our experiences.
