I have seen deer mounts where the hair is extremely soft & ear hair soft & fluffy allmost like it had been washed with a fabric softener.I was wandering if this is perhaps so because I would like to try this on my mounts.I do backbrush but this does not create this effect what ever was done made the hair almost as soft as silk.
any input would be apreaciated!

I attended taxidermy school this past summer, and when we got done letting the tan set on our skins they had us shampoo them. Just use warm water and some shampoo, we used pert plus, I dont think it matters. Then rinse the shampoo out good, dry the fur side till soft and fluffy while keeping the skin side and little moist and then your ready to mount.
I have been using just dawn dish soap for washing maybe the pert might do better thanks!I use cold water maybe warm would do better.
I kind of wander if tumbling in sawdust ect.may also help I just wash & towel semi dry then mount.
bay shampoo after dawn. dawn cuts grease or oil, j&j soft and fluffy
