Hide punch location

I dorsal cut a bobcat for a lifesize mount....Where do I punch the hide at? Thank you.

Anywhere you like. It's your choice on where. Some do it on the belly others it's on the back.

My choice to make my punch code to identify my hides is high up on the neck behind the ears. The hide is thickest there and won't get torn off and the hair is long in that spot so it won't show from the outside. No tanner that I know of punches and hide in that position, thus eliminating any confusion. I code all my deer heads between the antlers for the same reasons.

Making a Punch

Take an old screwdriver, a philips is the easiest, and grind the point into a three sided point.
