I need to have my fleshing machine blade reground I think. I only have a lip the wideth of the end of my finger neal. Is it worth sending them of to be reground ,are they go as new when they get back,or should I just buy a new blade?

Sounds like your new to this. Yes you have them sent out, reground and their just like new when you get them back
Yep, I'd consider it a good idea. Having said that, however, I keep a couple new blades always handy. A blade can only be resharpened so many times before the wheel diameter is too small to work with. Each resharpening requires that the existing bevel be removed, the blade sharpened, and then the edge turned. This means that every time you put a new OR a resharpened blade on, you must retune the blade and readjust your guards. DON'T TRY THIS on a customers piece. Many times this process will grab a hide and tear it to shreds before it's finally tuned properly.
last week Van Dyke's was charging $29.99 to sharpen + shipping both ways, and blades [11 5/8] are up to $88.
George who is doing it for 20?
That's what it WAS when I sharpened my last one. I told you, I keep several new ones on hand always and I have about 3 that need sharpening now. I have one more new one left, but I just changed blades this last August. I usually get a year out of one before I've tuned and honed it into ineffectiveness.
I thought i was going to save some money; i have some ready to ship Now.
