Thawing a Frozen Deer Head

If I hang a frozen deer head in my shop with a fan on it over night before I cape it out should it be safe from slippage? My shop temperature this time of the year is usually in the mid 50's. I'm concerned about the ears and other fast thawing parts thawing out early and starting to slip before the rest of the head is ready to cape. The would guess the head would take about 10-12 hours to completely thaw to the point where capping can be done. The archives has a lot of information on thawing and from what I can determine I think I'm safe to do it this way but just wanted to double check before I ruin a head. Thanks so much. This is a great website. Robert

robert,it should be fine as long as it wasnt sitting around thawed before it was frozen.thats why i have a bottle of stop-rot to brush on the head as it thaws ,just in case,it acually seems to help in turning the ears.
