Rodeo, no need to build a plywood box. Just screw your driftwood to a piece of plywood. Take a heavy duty card board box. Screw the plywood to the bottom of the box. Fill the box with styrafoam peanuts. They will get there with no problem.
I'm sitting here wondering what those foam peanuts will do to the feathers in shipment. Can't be good. Why do you need any packing when the birds are screwed to the bottom? They ain't going no where. just make sure you have plenty of room around them so the sides of the box will not touch them and they will be fine. Of course the birds have to be securely attached to the driftwood with leg wires, not just glue.
did you ever see the way the leading shipping companys handle all of those packages? They do beat the crap out of them.. Fragile means nothing to them.. good luck
The best way I've heard of is to fasten the critters to the habitat securely then fasten the habitat to a sheet of plywood or osb then frame them in with 2x4's or 2x2's and wrap the crate in shrink wrap and label extremely fragile. The shippers can see what the contents are and are more apt to use some tlc and not stack things on them whereas cardboard people don't have much respect for.
Thank for all advice. This will help
