Interested in Taxidermy

Hi guys, thought you would be the ones to ask about this.

I am interested in beginning to learn taxidermy for whitetail and am wondering if there are any good kits out there right now for shoulder mounts, or does anyone have a list of supplies along with a video that can walk you through everything the easiest possible way? Am sick of paying 500.00 to get a mount done, figure it's time to try and learn myself.

Thanks, Jason

Not an easy project.

You are paying for someone with experiance and skills, not just something anyone can do their first time.
Videos are on ebay all the time, and Van Dykes has kits for deer heads. You will need to learn how to skin nad thin capes too, and how to repair small cuts and tears and so forth, It will be a real good lesson in what is really into a mount.
I have a few guys come down that wanted ot help me mount their deer heads this year and just helping was more than they wanted to do after they started. They just thought I could do it so fast and it looked so easy that they must be able to do it too.
Not so. they are now willing to let me do all the work and gladly pay me to do so.

easiest possible way?

Jason,I didn't know that there was an easy way. You start by going to a supply web site like WASCO or McKenzie and get a video on fleshing and tanning, then get one on mounting. Skip the kits. If you do a search with the orange button on the left here, you will see that kits suck, blow, and have poor directions. I bought a kit to start on and was truly frustrated. Do the videos first; they will teach you how to measure a cape so you know what size form to order. And SKIP THE KITS.

Who knows
