I use 80 grit sandpaper .

You don't SAND any skin...you flesh it, with a knife...please tell me someone didnt tell you to "Sand" a skin....Im a fin and feather guy...your on the wrong track if your "sanding" anything...Put down the sandpaper and e-mail me....

Stick to your fins and feathers. Check out Bruce Rittel, and his information on tanning and you will see that sanding skins can be part of the tanning process. I use a dremel tool and barrel sander to final flesh capes for mounting, it works much better than a scalpel or skife knife for me.
