I live in elizabeth city NC, I try to find items to tan muskrat and any other type but cant find anything anywhere so i have been preserving with salt do know of any household items or store bought mixtures i could use

You could try rubbing Borax on the skin to preserve it; but the pelt will probably turn stiff. I'm unsure because I have never used Borax.
