In one of the older McKenzie catalogs 1998 the instructions to liqua tan recommend pickling but say it will work effectively without it.
Does anybody use liqua-tan and skip the pickling?
Thanks, John

It does.
and had good sucess. I must add that I used it on capes that were fresh and would not personally use without a pickle on an "iffy" cape. You'll have to be the judge of condition of the cape and procede from there. I first tried it on one of my personal capes, just to answer the question for myself, and was amazed when it mounted up just fine. I think it was done around 91' and it still looks good. I looked at one I did for my first cousin during a cookout yesterday. Now, he has some of my old DP heads and a couple of liqua tanned mounts I did for him as well as some mounts done by another taxidermist closer to him. The two liqua tanned mounts are just as good as anything on the walls. He only has about thirty mounted by the way. Cheers, Swampfox
