Tate, Whatever "dust" you are seeing on the hide is not caused by freezing. Being in a freezer a longer time as opposed to a shorter time will only result in more drying of the skin- called freezer burn sometimes. If you are seeing dust it is most likely dust or dirt that was in the hair when you froze the skin but now the little bit of dampness in the hair is gone letting this dirt fall free from the hair. Could even be from a trash bag especially if you are reusing bags. At any rate it is nothing to be concerned about at all- 7 or 8 months is not going to cause problems as long as you have a good cold freezer. Enjoy, Aaron H.
