Which is better, hide paste like buckeye or the 2 part adhesives like the hide master 2 part? Has anyone tried the McKenzie tan the brush on tan, how does this compare to pressure tanning?I am new to the industry & am looking for any helpful advice. There are so many products on the market that claim to do the same thing, just looking to avoid any mistakes that can be avoided.

Relax j m, I was new once, and in some areas I still am. Many people use the 2 part epoxy on the face and lips, and buckeye on the rest of the mount. I first started using buckeye on the whole mount, and things moved around on me around the eyes and mouth even when using pins to hold while drying. A taxidermist here talked me into using the epoxy on the face, and I was hesitant at first, but now it is the best way for me. AS you stated (There are so many products on the market that claim to do the same thing,) this is true! These are all time-tested products that work very well. It is good to have choices on products so you can find out what works best for you. Have never done the McKenzie tan, and the pressure tanner really speeds up the time, but you don't need one until you decide that taxidermy is what you want to do, wait till you get some good mounts done first before shelling out big for a presure tanner.
Mistakes are what we learn on, much of taxidermy is do and do over and do it again before it comes out right. But it sounds like you are doing the research, the more knowledge you can dig up the better, but hands on is the best teacher, making mistakes and learning from them is the next best teacher. Taxidermy is a big world, so remember, you are just learning, so relax and go for it. Having questions is a good thing; the only dumb questions are the ones that aren't asked.
