I have removed the antlers from the skull now what is the best way to clean the plate before I mount them? ( I am doing a shoulder mount so I don't think I need the plate to be totally perfect looking but this is not demonstrated in any of my videos.)

I scrape and wire brush them down so well that I don't boil them that much anymore, only when I've gotten lazy and left too much stuff. I put borax on them to dry them out.. When you do boil them it doesn't take much, only 5-10 mins. or so in the water then scrape them down. There shouldn't be that much stuff to clean off them to start with.... good luck..
