Skinning first squirrel

OK, I've been reading a lot on here, ordered some videos and watched them. Have more videos on the way and want to get started. THought I would start with a squirrel, what is the best way to skin one for mounting, please?
Also, what do you think of a squirrel as a first project? Any other suggestions? Thanks to all.

Good first mount...

I started with squirrels, as did a lot of other taxidermists. The skin is tough and is hard to tear and it is easy to acquire a new one if you screw it up.

As for skinning, I prefer to use dorsal or cased incisions for walking and standing poses and a ventral cut for anything climbing.

There is a ton of posts in the archive regarding the mounting of tree rats. I suggest you use that orange button and type in "Mounting a Squirrel" and see how much you come up with.
