Hello to all. I just tanned my first whitetail mount. The butcher skinned it out and did not leave any of the neck. How do I go about ordering a manikin? The deer was shot in New Jersey in late Oct. After Tanning it measures 14" on the neck (3" down off the ear). It was in rut so the neck should be bigger right? Thanks for all the help.

since you have the cape tanned already this should be easy foryou. Did you use a short cut? If so, simply put a ruler inside the neck cut just below the ears, and push it in till it touches the front throat skin. Double the number and you have your first measurement. Example: 9" will indicate an 18" neck etc. Measure again 3" down and your eye to nose and your set. Open capes are even easier. Open it up and don't stretch it too much. Take actual measurements laid out flat. I you want a good fit with some detail don't get an oversized form. Use your actual measurements. The more you go over the actual measurements the harder it will be to mount, and you will lose lots of detail and nothing seems to fit right. Good luck. Swampfox
if that measurement was taken as a tube cut short incision, I would say it was in rut. However taken across a flat open skin, it sounds like a Fla. Key deer in rut!
