was wondering if someone could give me a little help, i've mounted five deer so far and they were all long cut capes, i turn them inside out and sew them up as far as i can and still get them on the form, this part looks normal, after finishing mounting them and sewing up the rest of the way from the outside i seem to alway have a strip where the hair just dosen't seem to cover properly and its right down the seam, am i doing something wrong when sewing, is this normal and is there a way to fix this even after they are dry, thanks for your help

TRY

Try beating your seam down w/ a dead blow hammer, sometimes even laying a small round oblect right over the seam and hitting it. Smaller stitches, use a different stitch. If you have only done 5 mounts you need to mess around a little figure out what you aint doing right and find a way to fix it more than likely you will find a way to fix it before you figure out what you are doing wrong. Good luck,as long as you are working on your own stuff, remember the stitching faces the wall keep trying.

Maybe

Maybe your skin placement on the form is working against you. As you sew down from the head keep working the skin up. The skin gets wider and if you pull up you will get more coverage. Try pinning the cape where it should be so it stays up while your sewing.

I have had the same thing

I found out that if I use a little bit of clay down the seam I can press the seams down into the clay. And I also used to pull too tight on the thread and it would pucker the cape just enough to make it show. Hope it helps.

thanks
