Vaccuum packing

I search the archives but every thing was about birds.
Will it damage skins from deer, coyotes etc. if I vaccuum pack them.I have heard it will crushh the hair and make it not lay right

Thanks
Dave

Question Dave , usually , double bagging and forcing out as much air as possible is fine for mammals . Never tried vaccum on them myself so I don't know if it hurts the hair , I don't think it would myself . Maybe
try a small critter for a test and see what the effects are . Oh yeah , you probably know the don't salt before freezing thing ( just saying that before everyone else does ) LOL . Tell ya what , I got a spare critter and will try it myself and post in a few weeks or so on how it does . Bradlee

just had an article in it about that exact thing. Hair is pretty pliable, I can't see where it would hurt. The article says that it will won't freezer burn. I am going to try it.
