if i have already skinned and salted my bobcat skin for a few days and dont have the tanning chemicals yet what should i do. the hide isnt even hard yet. it still seems to be like it was after i skinned it. what i did was after i skinned it i put it in a small trash can with the salt all around and in it. i am planning on using krowtann for the tan. i know salting wasnt needed...anyway. what should i do now.

You didn't have to pour all that salt in the trash can...all you need is to rub a good amount into the skin side...That way you get more use out of the salt you buy......
Unless you get your tanning stuff soon, you should have wrapped it up in several layers of plastic bags and freezed it. But now that you have the salt on, it might "dry" the hide as I have heard...If I am wrong someone please correct me here!
Dan,
When you salt a hide you need to hang it up where it can drain. The salt you put on the skin will pull out a lot of fluids from the hide, and these fluids need to drain away from the skin. Don't let the fluids the salt is pulling out of the hide pool on the skin or it might slip, and don't put it in a platic bag where it gets no air circulation. Get your bobcat salted well and hang it up to drain and dry somewhere where it has some air geting to it. It will harden in a few days and remain stable until your chemicals arrive. You will then rehydrate in a brine solution and continue your tanning procedure.
