Turning Ears

Did I do this right:

I took a tool and I used this tool to take the entire skin off the back of the ear, away from the cartilage. Then I tanned the skin. The ear is turned, correct? The front skin did not want to come off the cartilage. The ear tanned through-and-through and looks and feels just fine for mounting.

I removed the ear butt and cartilage halfway up the ear for flexibility.

I will "mod podge" the texture back in, and paint the color back in. This is my own personal mount, not a client's.

as long as you split them all the way to the end, all the way around. and all the way to the ear canal, not just half way up.

I remove all cartilage before i tan. It comes off very easy and then i know it is tanned. On the average deer i can remove the ear cartilage in about 10 minutes from both ears. It took a little while to figure out the best way to do it but now it is very easy. If you want i can e mail you with directions
