How do you stretch?

I looked through the archives but had a hard time. I just tanned a squirrel and am not oiling it. How long do I have to leave the oil on before stretching the hide. The hide still looks raw, but I tanned it like the instructions and everything. If I try to stretch it the hair pulls out. What am I doing wrong? Please help ASAP.

Forgot to add that I am not wanting to mound skins, but to use them as crafts. I want a Pulpe white Leather on flesh side.

Not sure what chemicals you used to tan, but you have to break the hide if you want it soft and supple, and I would definitely oil it. Did you tumble it? Try breaking or sanding. Marc R

I rehydrated it W/Enzol B, Degreased it With Eliminator, Pickeld with Acid Bath Crystals, Tanned With Lutan F, Oil is Pro-Plus. Thats it it will not break. That is when you can see the white comming throught. What can i do to break it if the hair comes out? I do not have a tumbeler? Can i use the dryer with no heat or with? Please help!

with LiquaTan. Pickles with pickling crystals, neutralizes for 30 minutes, hand towel dries it and applies the tan. In a couple of days he works it by stretching it with his hands and some slight breaking with a metal tool I made him and it comes out pretty soft. Sometimes he adds the tanning oil but it really isn't neccessary.

Once the hair is slipping it's time for a new squirrel.
