Apoxy work

Submitted by G on 1/27/05 at 4:56 PM. ( ) 67.0.138.131

I did not trim off the papillae on a bear that I am mounting for a rug. After it has thoroughly dried, do I do my apoxy work directly over the papillae, or can the be injected possibly?
Thank you!

I don't think injecting would work.I would re-build with epoxy and possibly trim the original bumps off with a scalpel beforehand,if they are distorted enough to interfere with your epoxy work.Good luck.

no - leave them

I mount 50+ bears a year and never trim off the papillae. If you thin the lip skin down well enough (paper thin) and 'turn' the largest bump toward the front of the lip line so that it can be filled with clay, the lip line should look fine - bring your apoxie work right up to the inside of the bumps.
