Questions about learning Taxidermy

I have been watching this forum for a while now, and I have to admit I am very impressed with the amount of information that is passed from veteran taxidermists to those who would like to learn about taxidermy. I am looking for training options near my home. I have used the orange button, but came up with very little useful information. Most of the information is for schools that are no longer teaching, and the rest of the information is somewhat dated. I have even tried contacting some of the people listed in those previous messages in the archives about classes, but the e-mails came back as undeliverable. I will be moving to Raleigh, NC soon and would like to attend mini-courses, weekend seminars, or any other training venues that are available within driving distance of Raleigh. I have a family, and will be attending college so that is the reason for the short courses within driving distance. I saw on the conventions page that there is a mini-course being offered by Piedmont 28-30 April, and I have already contacted Mrs. Gentry at the school to get all the information for that. I know about Montgomery Community College and their one-year program, but I can't go to school for that long at one time plus the distance is about two hours driving time oneway. I want to learn taxidermy as a hobby, with the option to possibly do more with it in the future if the opportunity presents itself. I have read several books, watched numerous videos, and have collected a few specimens but haven't had the time to actually get my hands into mounting yet due to my impending move from Tennessee to North Carolina. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric D.

Eric, Ilive in Lexington NC and I attend Randolph Community College. They have a really good evening course. Three days a week 6-10. It's the best money I ever spent. They allow you to just take one quarter at a time. Some of the CC's in the area offer classes, but you have to check. And believe me when people find out that you're doing it, the phone rings off the hook. I turn down alot of work. E-mail me if I can help or answer any ?. Good luck

Thanks Greg

I sent you an e-mail. In all the searching that I have done, I didn't find that Randolph CC offered Taxidermy classes. Since your post I have visited their website, but they only show what courses are already in session and not future offerings. I will be calling them on Monday. Thanks again.

Eric
