when making the releif cut were should the incision be directly behind the leg or in the hairline were it goes from red to black and best way to open up the feet?

I find it so much easier to make an outside cut and use one of the super strength single thread fishing lines to sew them up.
John so just cut them in the back of the legs and open up?
