I know some people use apoxy sculpt around the eyes and nostrils and others use colored wax. My question is if you use wax can you paint over the wax to get proper colors or is better to mix waxes of different colors to get desired results or is there a better way? I will probably get some apoxy sculpt in the future but only have wax on hand right now.

Paint won't adhere to wax, you might want to try coloring it there several different colors of wax you might want to try and blend. It's a tough call, let us know how your experiment goes...
