First time at mounting a deer

I am going to Krowtann the directions call for degreasing what are they talking about. It also says to wash with tide I am wanting to think they are talking about using the household washer. If that is true are they another way to wash. If I was to use the washer my wife might have me hung on the wall.

Mikey T., Let me know what you find out, I have the same question, I will start my first time using Krowtann on a deer cape and was wondering about TIDE also, or if you can use any soap like it.

You can use Dawn.

I may be mistaken but for a deer, I would use Dawn dishwashing liquid. I also like to use a hair conditioner, but that is a personnal preference. I think it gives it a better shine. As far as washing, I wash mine in a bath tub. You could use a large wash tub. basically you want to get all the blood and dirt out. Hope it helps!

well guys

im not a krowtan expert but have used it with good results, you shouldnt need to degrease your deer cape, but if you elect to, use a good quality tannery degreaser or kemal to do so. and do it before tanning. use it as per instructions and you wont have any problems, dont substitute any of the ingrediants, dish soap is made for washing dishes not deer capes, tanning degreasers are made for just that, keeping ph levels in a safe zone without causing slippage problems, your fine to wash in a plastic 5 gallon bucket using tide
and use what the directions call for, not at all difficult!
