Making shed antlers.

Hi
I would like to use a shed antler in a habitat scene, but only have whole racks still attached to the skull. My question is this: Is there a way to cut off an antler and make it look like it was a shed. Can the bone right under the antler burr be textured to look like it was a natural shed?

Thanks in advance for any help that you can offer.

I have done this many times for my scenes. Cut off an antler just below the burr. Then mix up a small amount of apoxie-sculpt or similar epoxy. Make a rounded "cap" for the bottom of the antler and texture with a small paint bush. I usually apply a very small amount of red paint to the brush and gently work it into the epoxy. Try not to make it too red.

Jim gave you a great way of doing this job right. I've also done it this way, but if you don't have the materials on hand to do it this way you can always hide the base of the antler with some type of habitat (moss/leaves etc). Good Luck!

Thanks
