fibreglass jacket

Does anyone know where I can find a beginners guide to making fibreglass support jackets? I want to cast medium to large size garden ornaments/planters etc from latex moulds. I've never used fibreglass before and don't know where to start. Do I use polyester resin? Do I need gelcoat? What about release agents? I basically need an idiots guide. Any help appreciated.

Latex isnt really good for casting resin as the heat from the curing resin will shrink the latex every time you use it . If you want to cast figure that have angles and under cuts your best bet is to use some kind of rubber as a mold . If you want to use the latex , you will have to coat it with PVA wax or the resin will not cure properly in spots . Yes you will need some kind of gel coat . Next time try to post your ? in the proper forum . This should be in the molding section . Rick
