Throw it away

If you're getting hair slippage already at the skinning stage sounds like that cape's a gonner. Don't frustrate yourself from the get go. It could get very defeating. Try another cape. Stop rot is for use prior to tanning. If you think you have a questionable cape, apply it with a spray bottle liberally and rub it in in critical places like behind the ears, around the eyes and mouth etc. Then work the cape then salt.

Stop-Rot

If you going to use it then DON'T use a spray bottle. Atleast that's what the directions will tell you. It explains this, use a paint brush for it.
Also being it's a play cape it's ok to try it but if your slipping a whole bunch then chuck it.

if it's slipping bad, just chuck it. Better yet, practice on fleshing, splitting lips, turning ears, eye lids, etc. If you make a mistake it will be no big deal but you will learn a lot from cutting it up. I've found that the scalp is the last place to see slippage and try to save them for antler mounts before I chuck a cape.
