A Tan for Blankets

Is there any 'purchaseable' tan that I could use on a fur that is to become a blanket? I've a nice pearly alpaca hide that seems to be good for making a blanket, I just need to know if there's a home tan that I could use to create a "cuddly soft" leather texture and also keep the fur nice 'n silky.
Any ideas?

You aren't going to be able to get a really good soft tan at home unless you spend a couple thousand dollars or more. You really have to be serious about tanning to try it at home. There is an awful lot of learning and expensive equipment to buy. I would contact a professional tannery. Go to Bruce Rittels website and click the tanneries using Rittels EZ Tan. This is a garment safe tanning method.
