Probably not

Are you sure 1) you've shaved the lip skin VERY thin? I you can shave it thinner, do it. 2) Have you trimmed off the excess lip skin? You only need about 1/4" of it. I make the lip slot with a broken hacksaw blade and that's plenty big enough. Be sure the slot is deep enough to accomodate the skin, and use a good hide paste. You can pin the lip skin in place, but it probably won't be necessary except in the front.

Tucking tool?

What are u using for a tucking tool? I use a thin bladed knife to cut a slot without removing foam, the foam will give a little when tucking. Better tight than too loose. If the lips are shaved thin and u use a decent tool, you shouldn't have a problem. Make sure they are split all the way too,(the lips).

lip locker bit

I bought a lip locker bit and I use quite a bit of hide paste around the lip line and on the lip skin. Tucks easily and stays in place without pinning. Doug is right, you have to make sure your skin is thin. Cat. number for lip locker bit is 463121 and you can get it through McKenzie.

Did you trim

Did you trim excess lip skin off? You do not need all of the skin you have on the cape or hide that you kept when you or someone caped the animal. And as other have asked did you thin the skin? All important.

No Apoxie Sculpt, Use All Game!

Make sure the lip skin is very thin and remove all the papalia with a razor blade just lightly shaving it. Also make a hole with an awl or phillips screwdriver in the corner if the mouth on your mannikin so as to make room for the hide and a smooth transition at the corner of the mouth. No creases and make sure the hair pattern lays nice. You will know. Don't worry about the lower lip too much as you can use "all game" to build a better fleshier bottom lip anyway. It will look incredibly more realistic. It is more translucient and if you ever looked at a live deers lip (before the gunshot effect)it looks more meaty then that dried up lip you get after tanning anyway. Good luck
