Ok, when I tried to stitch a skinning nic on the muzzle of a whitetail the skin edges tore apart with the slightest pressure.
The solution I have been thinking of to remedy this is to use a dryer sheet or thin piece of something of that sort (like you do on ears).
First off has anyone tried this with scucess?
Second, do you need a flexible epoxy? If so, any sugestions? I was just thinking of trying my epo quick set.
Thanks everyone

If it's just a nic it sounds small, then yes just use superglue, you can back it with a dryer sheet or silkspan if you'd like. I seal many small cut, tears with superglue, then when you put the hide on the form use a good hidepaste (Epo-Grip) to hold it all in place.
Depending on where it it, and how big, i usually just make sure I use some good paste underneath and pin it in place.
I just had to repair a hole smack dead center in the middle of a deer chin right below his lip. I just cleaned up the hole, put some clay on the chin, used some Buckeye Supreme paste, and pinned it in place. Stiches would have shown in this area, and this way it is not noticable and if you look really close it looks like small scar.
Thanks for the quick responses.
I put a couple pins in the current one and just kept working the skin towards the nic and pushing it flat.
I'll try the glue next time to see what works for me. Any sugestions on the easiest glue to use in this application?
Thanks all
i tried the dryer sheet and i had a hard time getting the glue and everything to stick. on my last mount, i just made sure i had enough hide paste on the form and slid the skin so the seams came together and the hair pattern overlapped a bit, then pinned it in place with insect needles until dry. can't even see them and no sewing.
