Stripping Paint From Fish

I need to now how to strip the paint from a pike which was painted to dark.It has the original skin mount.I want to repaint it lighter. Thanks...

what I've done

I've use some off the shelf paint remover and just followed the directions. I've repainted a dozen or so over the years and they've all worked out ok. The fins will probably get soft and may need to be recarded and backed again, other than that you shouldn't have any trouble. Again, follow the directions on the paint remover. You may need to use a old tooth brush to get into tight areas. Also, I've quickly rinsed the mount with tap water to wash away old paint and remover. (the paint remover was water clean-up).

i just used a rag and tooth brush with liquer thinner , it took it right off with no problem, i did have to re do the fins with silk span
