Frustration with first fox

Started the mounting process with my first fox today, and it's giving me a little bit of trouble. In a few spots, about the size of a quarter, the epidermis is decaying and a good bit of hair is coming out. Everything else is going pretty well, except for the major changes I had to make in the manniken. Has anyone else had trouble with liquatan? I can't figure where else I could have gone wrong to cause the slipping. My initial question was, what do the rest of you do when you see the hair starting to slip, besides stick it back in the frezer to let it cool down? Would applying stop rot the the slipping location help, or what else? Any help appreciated.

"IF" the skin was pickled, you "MIGHT" be able to stop the spot slips by doing this. If you already have the STOP-ROT on hand, cut it one part STOP-ROT to two parts distilled water. Brush that on with a paint brush, you may have to use a comb to get the solution down to the skin, but get the whhole area wet and the areas around the spots.

If you get a gooey, sticky residue produced, you MAY have a chance.

If you do get the residue, let the mount dry before cleaning, and grooming. Then use a mister bottle, mist the area, and wipe with cheap paper towels to get rid of the goo.

That combination has been known to work, sounds to me like that is your best shot right now. Let us know how you came out.
