I know most of you guys hate the thought off mounting anny thing with borax but if I was to mount a fox pedistal with borax how long would it last. And can I just rub it on the skin and slide it on the form or should I let it soak fo a little while. one more ? how many of you guys use borax compared to dry preservative and what is the bigest thing that you would mount with it. thanks for all the help in advance.

Today, I wouldn't go any larger than a coyote or lynx with dry preservative. PERSONALLY, I'd never use plain borax on the mounts because I like the drying enhancement of the talc and the astringent qualities of the alum AND the insect repelling of borax in DP more than I do borax alone.

Likely, the mounts will last as long as they're cared for.
