I have an old polar bear rug that is yellow. I would like to make it white again. Does anyone have any solutions.
Thank You, Shawna

Actually, polar bears aren't white white. Their hair is a pale yellow. It is very "iffy" to try and bleach an old rug and that's what would be required in this case. I don't think I'd ever recommend doing it or washing it as that might destroy your piece.
Maybe move it to a darker room so it doesn't show as bad if it is really yellow . Too hard to replace something like that . Bradlee
You can take it outside and wipe, damp it down with a good spray bottle cleaner, any of the strong sprays, 409 types. . Do not get it wet. I used lighter fuild once on one that was smoke damaged and it really took alot of the soot out and dried fast. Rerugging the felt etc. would also be a good idea IF the hide is still strong enough, it may not be. Take it to a taxidermist for a look see. Like they said Polar bears are not pure white and they also have black skin.
