hi all,

Just wondering if i could get some advice if possible ?

Last year I customised a 'designer toy' in clear resin for an exhibition.

I enjoyed it immensely and learnt lots about molding & polyester resin. This year I have been asked to customise another toy.

I plan to 'set' it in a cube/block (20in x 20in x20in) of resin OR clear material and introduce other objects. I have a few concerns and a few questions.

1. the toy is plush and made of fabric and I realise this could cause problems with bubble release during curing - is there any way I could seal the toy in a clear film to essentially prevent any air from within the toy escaping ?

2. I am not sure what material to use as my block. Resin is fine but after reading and discovering 'clear elegance' and 'crystalcast' on these forums I think these two materials could be better. Can anyone tell me which material I should use for this task ?

link to crystalcast - http://www.industrialpolymers.com/trans_casting_compounds.html

3. with crystalcast I would like a semi-flexible block, do you see any problems with trying to achieve this (as far as what I am trying to do) ?

4. Is it best to pour several pours or all at once with something like this ? Or will the material over heat and crack (seeming as I know resin basics, I am relating this question too it) ?

Thanks for any help in advance, I really appreciate any help. Still got lots to learn on this subject.

cheers

Oz
