Old Rack

I bought a 10 pt wt rack, 19 1/2 inside spread 5 in drop tine
but it must of hung in a bar or something because it is yellow colored now, thought it might be nicotine stain from smoking but tried every chemical to take it off but wont come off, any tips

what all did you use to try to clean it? if its just the rack you can use lacquer thinner, that will take off just about any thing! you can also try acetone but it does not work as well. Joe

cleaning that tar off. That's what it is, not nicotine. Nicotine is the drug that addicts you to the cancer sticks. The tar is the yellow crap that sticks to everything. You probably won't be able to get this off those antlers and other than whiting them out and restaining them. Or it could be shellac as a lot of old antlers were painted with that but again it is almost impossible to remove even with paint stripper. You will probably just have to live with it.

Antique dealers call it patina, lol.

You can try to get the stuff out with Oxyclean. It has worked for me, not all the time however. It's worth a shot.
