had a customer bring me cape with horns cut off at base of skull but with inserts still in - how do i get the inserts out of actual horns

Put them in a plastic bag, wet them a little first, and in a few weeks in the sun they should fall right out.

You can also boil them. On most bison forms you only use the horn cap's anyway so theres no need to save the inner bone. I boil mine and check them often. It's fast and simple and providing you dont let them stay in the boil too long it works great. Remember to treat the inside of the horns with a DP to prevent and smell later on.
