Here's some of my work. It is presented in chronological order so the first pics were done first etc.. Would really appreciate some feedback on where to improve, what I've done right and overall impressions of work.

Hope you have the proper permits for it. It's illegal to have.

I have a pet flying squirrel and I may not be great at taxidermy but I do have flying squirrel to look of of and your mount looks really good evxept the eyes ont the little fella need to be shinier and not black but a really dark brown. good job on the others, even if the redwing blackbird is illegal I think it is very pretty

of something being declared "illegal" by the powers that be. The Redwing Blackbird is the most abundant bird in North America. You can fix ignorance but not much to be done about stupidity. Nice mount Scott.

I've noticed that Blackbirds are

a touchy subject here. Good thing I'm in Canada and the RWBB and Goshawk (that you can see the wing of in the Shoveler mount) are legal here. Raptors can be possessed if found dead and the permits are easy to get. The RWBB isn't even a migratory bird on the Canadian lists and is completely unprotected in my province (along with crows, magpies, cowbirds, grackles, yellow headed blackbirds, etc. -- ravens can also be shot anytime on private land). Even Federally protected migratory non-game birds such as herons and song birds can be possessed with Federal permits that are now being given to private individuals. The permit states that the bird belongs to the government and that it is on loan to you -- you have to give it back to them if you decide you don't want it anymore. Raptors and federal birds can't be sold but the crows, ravens, blackbirds etc. can be.

Thanks for the comments. The Flying squirrel was my first mammal mount so I only used cheap plastic doll eyes in it in case I blew it. I've got the proper eyes for my future mounts.
