I rehydrated an air dried fox with about a pound of salt in 2 gallons of water and 2 tbls stop rot. I left it in until it was nice a soft. rinsed it off and put it in the pickle, saftee acid.
The problem is that it is not thick enough. I don't know how I'm going to get all the membrain off, it didn't thicken up like a fresh hide does. The membrain is tight against the skin and it is really thin. What should I do? Also, I was told that I can rehydrate a hide with downy fabric softener in the water, That didn't sound like a good idea, does that really work?
Thanks a lot!

Now I'm a beginner, but if you want to flesh a hide without making any holes in it, I use a paint scraper with the edges grinded down. Hope this helps.
